Son Satan
Author: admin

Why would Satan bother to tempt the “Son of God”?
Satan tempted Christ three times in the desert, well aware that Christ was the Son of God and is thus “divine” and “perfect”. What would have been the point of this confrontation? Satan knew what the outcome was going to be. Satan can not be a moron if he is a threat to God. Thus does it becomes a question of God’s uncertainty about the divinity of His Son? Was God testing if divinity could be questioned when it came to temptation?
Are you saying that Christ could not have failed? That it was impossible for him to sin because he was God?
This is not what the Bible teaches. In fact, Jesus laid down his divine ability to be good when he came to this earth. As God, he could do no wrong. It is impossible for God to sin. However, as a man, Jesus put aside that ability. He could fail. He could sin. And worse than that, he could not use His divine power to keep from sinning because that would disqualify him as man’s advocate, our High Priest.
Jesus came to this earth filled with the same evil tendencies we are born with. Unlike us, he never gave in to a single one of these tendencies but closed the door to each temptation not by his own power but through the power of the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit that is available to you and me. Satan was trying to the end to get Jesus to rely on his divine power to overcome sin, to not rely wholly on the Holy Spirit. Then, Satan could have claimed that it was impossible for man to keep the law of God without using divine power.
If this claim was true, God would not be justified in excluding Satan from eternal life because the laws of God could not be kept. They were unjust. Jesus came to prove the laws of God to be just and he had to do it in the same manner that is available to every person, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Better yet, because Jesus overcame sin, not by his own divine power, but through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome sin in the same way. Had he used his divine power, we would have no example to follow and no hope to overcome sin. There would be an excuse to sin because it would be impossible to overcome without divine power.
Satan knew exactly what he was doing when he tempted Christ. Thankfully, so did Jesus who learned obedience through the things that he suffered through self denial. Thus Jesus can help us when we are tempted because he was tempted in all things like we are yet he did not sin.

Little Nicky (New Line Platinum Series) $4.76 In Little Nicky, Adam Sandler plays the sweetest of three sons of Satan (Harvey Keitel), who’s got to go to Earth and retrieve his nasty, power-hungry brothers lest they take over Hell and make it a thoroughly evil place. As with Sandler’s other films, this weird premise (based oh-so-loosely on King Lear) is just an excuse to trot out a hodgepodge of comic bits and cameo performances. Admittedly, … |

Paradise Lost $26.98 Of Man’s first disobedience and the fruit Of that forbidden tree whose mortal taste Brought death into the world and all our woe, With loss of Eden, till on greater Man Restore us and regain the blissful seat Sing, Heavenly Muse… Thus begins the epic poem, considered the greatest in the English language, as John Milton seeks to ?justify the ways of God to men? through relating the story of Satan’s rebellion in Heaven, the deception and fall of Man, and the presaged event of Redemption through Jesus, the Son of God?the ?Second Adam.? An English cleric with a classical education, Milton lost his eyesight in 1652, and thus the story was largely dictated by the blind poet, lending a certain quality of the ancient oral epics, which only serves to enhance the telling of the tale. Weaving classical mythology with a deep knowledge and reference to Scripture, Milton’s genius for narrative unfolds what his biographer, Samuel Johnson, called his peculiar power to astonish. Nadia May has narrated over five hundred audiobooks and has earned the prestigious AudioFile Golden Voice award, as well as fourteen Earphone awards. She is an accomplished film, TV, and theater actress. Nadia’s native British voice complements her graduate education in English Literature from UC Berkeley to make her delivery of John Milton’s Paradise Lost engaging and nuanced. |
